Mitchell Grocery is a grocery distribution company located in North Alabama. This family owned business was started by the Mitchell family in 1945 as a feed and supply store in downtown Albertville. Today Mitchell Grocery is a multi-million dollar business that has shown growth in every year of its existence. Mitchell Grocery takes pride in providing its employees steady employment and a chance to grow within the company.
The distribution center is a full line grocery supplier serving over 200 grocery stores located throughout the southeast. The bulk of these stores are independently/family owned grocery stores located in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky. In addition to serving the independent grocer, the distribution center serves 32 corporately owned stores located in north and central Alabama. With about 540 employees at the distribution center and another 2500 retail employees, Mitchell Grocery is one of the largest employers in the region. The employees at the distribution center receive, on average, 90-95 truckloads of product per day and ship to our customer’s 90-95 truckloads per day.
The delivery of product is handled by the distribution center’s transportation department which employs 80+ class A CDL drivers operating over 120 tractors/trailers. Also included in our driving department is over 15 yard drivers.
